Meet Rob and Alan
As best
friends since playing music together back in the 60's, Rob (seated in the
"thinkers" pose) and Alan (with his only remaining vice: Java) had a dream
that was spawned during one of those typically "philosophical" moments
of the early 70's: someday we would have our own recording studio....23
years later, Baked
Beans Recording was
born. Since it's inception in 1992, BBR
has
grown steadily.
What started as a 16-track analog facility is now one of the best equipped studios in the region. Virtually all proceeds have been poured back into the studio over the last seven years in order to get the quality equipment needed to produce great recordings. However, any equipment is only as good as the engineer behind the controls...
...Rob and Alan have about 65 total years of experience in the music business between them; much of it as players, but about 1/3 of it recording other acts. Do not underestimate the advantage of having seasoned players behind the knobs. When the recording artists are looking for a certain sound in their headphones or in the mixdown, Rob and Alan are usually able to intuitively tweak it out for them quickly.
Rob played the Northeast country music scene for about 10 years, before settling down to a "real job" as a code enforcement officer for the town of Harrison (how ironic for Rob: the one who always made fun of 'government'...) and to make babies with his wonderfully supportive wife, Diane, a registered nurse.
Alan played the Southern rock circuit in the deep South for about 10 years before hanging up his '59 Les Paul for a degree in medicine. He also lives in the town of Harrison with his wife, Kim, a piano teacher with 45+ students. He jokes that he just used the M.D. degree to finance his real passion: the music! (hmmm...is he really joking???)
The building housing Baked Beans Recording was constructed from the ground up as a recording facility. It has 12" thick double walls with double insulation and almost 4 feet of insulation above the Cathedral ceilings. Add this to it's remote location, and you've got great isolation from extraneous noise. There is a large 26' x 28' main room and a 12' x 10' drum room and a 4' x 6' vocal/isolation booth. The natural wood interior lends a warm atmosphere that clients typically find relaxing and thus conducive to letting the creative juices flow...relaxing while "tape" is running "on the clock" can be difficult, but Rob's and Alan's quiet confidence allows just that.
We enjoy showing off our toys, so give us a call to arrange a "tour" of the facility. By appointment only, please, so as not to disturb our clients.
Note:
we are a non-discriminatory business (aliens are welcome). We are
handicapped accessible, as well (no stairs).
